What’s your car doing while you’re shopping?

People personify their cars every day. They are a part of us. We give them names, we love them, we curse them sometimes and we couldn’t imagine life without them. So why not bring them to life and, with humor, remind Walmart shoppers that simply leaving them alone and unattended in the parking lot while they shop can be a recipe for their cars to misbehave? And in this way, show them that they can keep their cars out of trouble by giving them an oil change while they shop.

We’ll do this with a series of humorous spots that show their cars acting up in the parking lot while they are unaware and in the store shopping. And we’ll offer them the perfect solution to keep them out of trouble by having their oil changed with quality Castrol Oil while they shop.

These simple, yet humorous spots, will run on Walmart.com, Facebook and other social media channels as well as on in-store TV.

Other tactics like realistic looking parking violation “tickets” will be placed on unsuspecting shoppers’ cars that cite various infractions their cars have made while they were unattended. Infractions like Tooting their own horn and being caught with their tops down. This will serve as an attention-getting way to alert shoppers of the Castrol oil change services available at Walmart and deliver incentives to give it a try. We can encourage shoppers to share their “tickets” online to spread the word.

Spots can be shot with quick cuts/closeups back and forth between different cars to “bring them to life” in different scenarios where they are misbehaving. Actors will return to their cars surprised and confused about what happened while they were gone. Cut to “Keep your car out of trouble” by getting a quality Castrol oil change while you shop.

Cars alongside react. “Giggling”, honking, etc. Finally, they move in for a kiss. Soft focus quick cuts and dreamy. Romantic music implies cars moving closer.

Family walking away from car and hit lock button on car as they go.

We see them go into store from perspective of car. As soon as they go into store the car begins acting up. Blasts stereo, alarm goes off. Others join in. Some are bouncing in place (low rider style), others are opening and closing windows, shooting windshield spray etc., until whole parking lot is at it.

We see family approaching exit from behind, and the chaos in the parking suddenly stops as doors open

Trading spaces.

Couple leaves car after parking and walks away. We see two cars that look the same across the parking lot from each other. From little moves we see both cars decide on a scheme to switch places as a joke. They leave their spots and as they pass each other they do the equivalent of a car fist bump, then settle in each other’s previous spot…and wait

Couple comes back to load groceries and press key fob to unlock car but nothing happens. They look at each confused and look around at nearby cars wondering what’s up.

Large truck backs into spot where smaller car is just over the line separating spots. People leave and truck shoots washer fluid at car behind infringing on his spot. Smaller car wipes away spray timidly. Truck shoots again. Again, car wipes and lowers itself in submissive gesture. Truck sends a longer stream and rises up in intimidating fashion. Small car lowers and shivers and we see a trickle of water running out from under it. Truck sends endless stream at car behind. Car “puffs like a blowfish” by suddenly opening all doors, hood and trunk. All air bags pop at the same time as well. This scares truck and it stops spraying and lowers itself back down to normal.

People come back to car and wonder what the heck just happened as their car is completely wet while it’s dry everywhere else. – CUT
